A Practice Built on Careful Work
We help Malaysian organisations find where AI assistance genuinely fits — without pressure, without overstatement, and without unnecessary complexity.
← Back to HomeHow Sinar Compass Came to Be
Sinar Compass was founded in Kuala Lumpur with a particular concern in mind: that many Malaysian organisations were hearing about AI as though it were something they must adopt, urgently and broadly, without much guidance on whether it actually suited their situation.
The practice grew from consulting work done across professional services and education firms in the Klang Valley, where the same pattern appeared repeatedly — organisations had adopted tools that no one was using well, or had avoided AI entirely because the available guidance was either too technical or too promotional to be useful.
Sinar Compass occupies a different position. We work slowly, with care, and only take on engagements where we believe we can offer something of genuine value. Our services are structured to give organisations the information they need before making any commitment — and we are equally comfortable telling a client that AI integration may not be the right priority for them at a given time.
Our Mission
To help organisations in Malaysia understand where AI may assist their work — and where it may not — through honest assessment and careful implementation.
Our Values
Clarity over hype. Written deliverables over verbal summaries. Measured pace over urgency. Outside perspective offered with discretion.
People Behind the Practice
Ahmad Hisham
Ahmad leads the Storehouse Audit and oversees all client engagements. He has spent twelve years advising operations-heavy firms across the Klang Valley on information management and process design.
Nurul Rashidah
Nurul handles the technical work behind our Single-cabinet Builds. She focuses on connecting AI capabilities with the software firms already use, and writes the documentation that comes with every handover.
Lim Kai Ming
Kai Ming conducts the quarterly Quiet Reviews for client organisations. His background is in education administration and quality assurance, which informs how he reads operational data and frames recommendations.
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Confidentiality
All client information is treated with discretion. We are prepared to sign non-disclosure agreements before any engagement begins, and we do not reference client work in our own materials without written permission.
Written Deliverables
Every engagement produces a document you can keep, circulate internally, and reference independently of us. We do not deliver findings only in meetings or presentations.
Honest Assessment
We will tell you when we believe AI integration is not the right step for your organisation at a given time. Our business is not served by selling work that does not benefit the client.
Staff Orientation
When we build a capability for your organisation, we include a structured handover with light orientation for the staff who will use it. The work is not complete until someone on your team can operate it confidently.
Data Protection
We adhere to the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) in handling any personal information gathered during engagements. Client data is not retained beyond the scope of the work without consent.
Accessible Language
Our reports, documentation, and recommendations are written in plain, accessible English. We do not use technical language where plain language serves better.
AI Advisory for Malaysian Organisations
AI integration advisory sits at an unusual position in the Malaysian market. There is no shortage of vendors offering AI products, and there is no shortage of consultants recommending that organisations adopt more technology. What is less common is a practice whose work begins with an honest look at whether AI is the right consideration at all.
Sinar Compass was built for organisations in professional services, education, and operations-focused businesses across the Klang Valley and beyond. The firms we work with are typically mid-sized, often have information-heavy workflows, and are approaching the question of AI with appropriate caution — neither rushing to adopt nor dismissing the possibility outright.
Our Storehouse Audit is the most common starting point. It produces a written picture of how your organisation currently handles information, where repetitive work sits, and whether any of that work is a plausible candidate for AI assistance. The audit does not assume that AI is the answer. Many organisations use the findings to improve their current practices without any AI involvement at all.
The Single-cabinet Build is for organisations who have identified a specific, well-defined task that AI may handle well, and want it done carefully — with full documentation, integration with existing tools, and a handover that leaves staff comfortable operating the capability independently.
The Quiet Review Service serves organisations who are already running AI tools and want the benefit of a calm, external perspective at quarterly intervals. It is deliberately light and does not require significant time from your team.
Begin with a Conversation
If you are considering whether AI may be of use to your organisation, we are a reasonable place to start. No obligation, no pressure — just a careful look at your situation.
